always thinking
I received payment for all my hard work the last 3 years in the form of a new LV Odean GM and matching wallet! It's so lovely and very versatile. It can be worn 3 ways, on the shoulder, as a handbag, or across the body for a handy, hands free look. My brilliant sister (who is always thinking and has my best interest at heart) pointed out that the across the body method will work the best for me when I'm wearing my straight jacket. She will happily assist me when the time comes. Who doesn't need a sister like that? By the way, I am not horrified by the picture of the straight jacket above. I think I'm reacting to the color. I love winter white! It'll look great with a Louis V across it!

the language of accounting
I've come to the conclusion that my accountant sister is brilliant. She is fluent in accounting. A talent I lack. I still have no idea what she and my real accountant are saying. They may as well be speaking Chinese. Even when they say: "let me explain it to you this way" the best I can do is recognize some of the words. Their meaning, I just can't get. "Gross" means: something I would NEVER even consider putting in my shop, or the amount of product I need to buy to get a really great deal. "Net" means: something really cool to hang on the wall in a child's room and load up with stuffed animals, or use in a display of nautical items. "Spreadsheets" is part of an instructional for protecting the floor while painting. "Profit" I get, and I have. I just can't figure out why I'm being punished for it. I told George yesterday "The goal when I opened this place was to not lose money. I didn't know I was going to lose my mind." He thought that was the funniest thing he ever heard. He told me that he told the real accountant and they both laughed. These are 2 wicked men. I'll stick with my sister. She is kind and caring. She recognizes the blank stare that creeps into my eyes when she's losing me in her "double entries", "columns", "expenses" (I love that word!...oh, I mean I love "expensive". I think that's different.), and "depreciation"...(do I have that?). She's very good with me. She quiets the screaming and calms the frustration. Not that I understand anything any better. She is just so patient with me. I don't mind paying the taxes, I just can't believe that I can run a really successful business, but I cannot understand this language. (I think it goes back to Bev King (the bookkeeper / know it all woman that shared an office with my father and was my mentor, and I use that term loosely, who would sprout horns and a tail between the after school hours of 3 - 5 pm daily when I turned 16....) and unpleasant experiences!)
Thank goodness for my brilliant sister and her translation of accounting... sprinkled with love.

There's no place like home
Gonna make the most of my first monday off since Thanksgiving. I will be home all day lounging about in my pj's, a ponytail, and comfy slippers. I will drink coffee, waste time, spend time, and lose track of time.
I love being at home. I love lounging about. I love my pj's, ponytail, & comfy slippers.
I love my coffee, and I love having time to myself.
It's going to be a great day.

a few quotes
Once upon a time, Lily, Rosie & Poppy wandered off to shop and lunch. They all lived happily ever after. So, what happened in between? Here are some of the highlights:
Lily: ok girls, if we get stuck we need to decide which one of us we will eat.
Poppy: don't you think that's a bit premature?
Lily: my seatbelt is too tight (repeat 100 times)
Poppy: why don't you put it across your mouth?
Lily: that was rather mean.
Poppy: and me possibly being eaten for dinner isn't?
Poppy: we can live by sucking on our socks.
Lily: I'm not wearing any socks.
Rosie: suck on your mittens!
Lily: where are all these big ass trucks coming from?
Rosie: we live in a world of big ass trucks
Lily: now I have an itch.
Poppy: now I know why your husband rolls you out of bed and into a car before you open your eyes and mouth.
Lily: Big ass truck, big ass truck, big ass truck.
Lily: I can't find my Burt's Bees, but here is my prozac.
Lily: I can't find my Burt's Bees
Lily: I can't find my Burt's Bees
Lily: I can't find my Burt's Bees
Poppy: TAKE THE PROZAC.
...and that was just the ride home. I am happy to report that no one was eaten, hence, we all lived happily ever after.
